Building Buzz
Statesman Corporation will begin construction of their newest multi-family project, The Landings at Cougar Ridge, some time this summer. The project, a 66-unit development featuring both townhome and villa style homes, has been in the planning stages for a couple of years, but got put on the back burner when the economy soured. Now, with the housing market on a bit of a rebound, the project is a ‘go’ again. Construction of all five phases should be complete in about two years with anticipated occupancy beginning in the fall of 2011. Prices will start around $500,000.
Meanwhile, Statesman also owns the property on which currently sits the Crowchild Inn and is awaiting approval of a development permit which would allow them to demolish the Inn in favour of the Groves of Varsity, a five-building-500-unit adults only condo community. If they get the go-ahead, expect demolition to begin in late 2010 or early 2011.
