Calgary housing starts lower in February

Total housing starts in the Calgary Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) fell to 508 actual units in February 2017, a 14 per cent decline compared to the total 589 units recorded in February last year.


According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, single-family home starts in the city did see a rise in the same month to 296, compared to 218 in February 2016. But apartments and row house construction slid 43 per cent to 212 from 371 in the same period last year.CL
